Art from Miraculous: Contingency

This section is going to look quite bare to start with, but there will be a couple of pieces of ‘official’ art, along with some concept pieces for ideas, uploaded as they become revealed in the story.

If any part of the story inspires you to create some art based on the characters/situations in Miraculous: Contingency I’d love to see it - please send anything through to one of the Miraculous: Contingency social accounts, along with how you’d like to be credited:

Calla, the Raven Kwami of Imitation

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Introduced in Miraculous: Contingency episode 2, Legion, Calla is one of the Minor Kwamis. She is a cautious, but confident Kwami, who is extremely loyal to her siblings and her friends.

She grants the power of Mimic, allowing Korvid to create two semi-autonomous clones of herself, which obey simple instructions - usually, to clobber the nearest Akuma!

Riggly, the Ferret Kwami of Excitation

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Introduced in Miraculous: Contingency episode 2, Legion, Riggly is one of the Other Kwamis. They are hyperactive and impulsive, but would do anything to protect the ones they love.

They grant the power Watch This. When she uses Riggly’s power, Tangle leaps around in an oversized weasel-war-dance, temporarily hypnotising targets near her.

Caarcon is a confident, almost belligerent, Kwami with a well-developed sense of right and wrong. Technically, Caarcon was introduced in Miraculous: Contingency Season 2, Episode 3, Renégadaire, but his first real appearance was in S2 Episode 8, Miracon.

Caarcon gives Heikegana the power of Retaliate, the ability to absorb damage from most sources and then reflect it back at his enemies in a single massive blast of energy.

Caarcon, the Crab Kwami of Retaliation

Tuung, the Chameleon Kwami of Infiltration

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Quiet and a little shy, Tuung doesn’t often speak up, trusting his siblings to get the important points across. When asked for his opinion, he will come out of his shell a little. Other than The Kwamis Decide, Tuung first had a cameo at the end of Miraculous: Contingency Season 2 Episode 2, The Maelstrom: Part 2 when Lila revealed that she’d stolen his Miracle Box from the Chest she obtained for Papillon. The first time we got to see him in action was three episodes later in Chamela, where we learn that Lila is mistreating the poor guy.

As well as allowing her to stick to walls and ceilings, Tuung allows Chamela to use Shimmer, a power that makes her invisible and almost completely silent.

Biquué, the Wolf Kwami of Cooperation

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Biquué is one of those people who will always help you out without being asked. Cheerful and sociable, her one big flaw is that she has absolutely no ability to realise when she’s getting in the way. Her first appearance was in the short episode The Kwamis Decide, then she had a cameo in Chamela. She reappeared at the end of Doctor X, but it wasn’t until The Last Play: All These Lies We’ve Told that we actually got to see her in action, forced into service by Nathalie.

Biquué gives the power of Uplift, which allows her to boost the power levels of other people - if used on a human, they would find their strength and endurance increased, while a Miraculous would find that they can do much more with their powers.

Khaan, the Elk Kwami of Integration

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Khaan is one of the two leaders of the Other Miracle Chest - authoritative but patient, she’s the one who gives orders and expects them to be obeyed, but she is willing and eager to listen to her siblings’ opinions before making a decision. Like Biquué, we saw her in The Kwamis Decide, then she had a cameo in the flashback sequence at the beginning of Moonspell and Chamela. The Last Play: Who Holds The Cards is the first time we get to see her in combat, although not how she would have liked to appear.

Khaan’s power of Vector allows her to act as a vector for other Kwamis - she could deliver Queen Bee’s Venom or Chat Noir’s Cataclysm, ride Viperion’s Second Chance, or create a single Mimic from Korvid.

Millsy, the Sloth Kwami of Expression

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Millsy is a slow, patient artist - were things different, he would probably get on well with Orikko. Like Biquué, we saw him in The Kwamis Decide, then he had a cameo in the flashback sequence at the beginning of Chamela. His first fighting role occurs in The Last Play: Who Holds The Cards, press-ganged into Mayura Reál’s service

Patience is Millsy’s power, creating a large bubble around his wielder which slows down everyone inside it - including the Miraculous who’s transformed with Millsy.

Illion, the Octopus Kwami of Communication

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Illion is a convivial chatterbox of a Kwami, able to psychically hold multiple different conversations at once - she had a vital role in maintaining the Other Miracle Chest’s secrecy, as revealed in the short episode The Kwamis Decide. Other than her cameo at the beginning of Chamela, Illion didn’t properly appear in the story until The Last Play: You Or Me?

Using the power of Brainwave, Illion can link a group of people, her partner becoming a telepathic hub. This allows a squad of Miraculous to work together without giving away their locations or plans.

Spiike, the Pangolin Kwami of Substitution

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Spiike likes to play up to his reputation as a curmudgeonly old man, which is why he carries a cane despite hovering everywhere. He appeared in The Kwamis Decide then cameoed at the beginning of Chamela, but made his combat debut in The Last Play: You Or Me?

With a shout of Fortify a Miraculous fused with Spiike can choose a group of people and take damage on their behalf - injury and impact all substituted for them. Combining this ability with Caarcon’s Retaliate could be one of the most dangerous combinations imaginable, so it’s probably for the best that the two of them don’t get on and would prefer never to unify!

Eddge, the Scorpion Kwami of Mediation

by @izzy_wizzy_im_dead on Instagram

Along with Khaan, Eddge is one of the co-leaders of this Miracle Chest. He is patient, deliberate, and always tries to see both sides of an argument before weighing in. He appeared in The Kwamis Decide then transformed Gabriel into Clawstrike at the end of Chamela, using his power to heal Nathalie.

Using Contrapoint, Clawstrike (or any other Miraculous fused with Eddge) can create a bubble of healing energy - the Miraculous has no control over who gets targeted by this energy; friend and foe alike will be restored.

This is a drawing my cousin did for me of Queen Bug, who makes her first appearance in Meduma, (Season 4, Episode 4)

I’d planned to have Chloé temporarily take over from Ladybug near the beginning of the writing process, but I hadn’t come up with a design for her - I just asked Spence to make a design - the only guidance I gave was “loose hair, no high-heels, and criss-crossed belts” and she came up with this brilliant design. I amended the description in the episode to match this image.
